The site offers a powerful reflection on the inhuman journey endured by many. In 1998, the remains of two formerly enslaved Africans—Samuel Carson (USA) and Crystal (Jamaica)—were symbolically returned and reburied here. You’ll receive your true African name, based on the day of your birth or sibling order—just as it would have been if you were born in Ghana. This emotional and spiritual moment connects you to your ancestral roots and is often a highlight of the trip. In the evening, choose to celebrate with locals at a popular live music venue in Cape Coast or simply unwind at your hotel, reflecting on a truly memorable day.
